Abby Jo Morris || Trans Experience, Eating Disorders & Evangelicalism
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
“When I came out as trans, I realized I wanted a body that was all for me.” - @abby.jo.mo
I got to interview Abbie Jo Morris on the podcast today and was reminded why I started the show in the first place. Abby is incredible, and if this is your first time listening, you’re making the right choice.
Abby is a Maine based writer who explores the intersections between various identities including trans woman, Jewish convert, chronically ill spoony, and sex-positive poly slut. Abby joined me on the podcast today to talk about her experience growing up in a highly conservative part of Florida while being raised as a fundamentalist evangelical. We definitely bonded over the correlation with that, and how we both struggled with eating disorders in the midst of it. It was really interesting to dive deep into the similarities of the rigidness between Evangelicalism and eating disorders. We went on to talk about her journey coming out of Christianity and finding Judaism, and how that coincided with her coming out as a trans woman. Abby is someone who I feel like I’ve known for my whole life. We both left this conversation feeling so full of life and wanting to dive even deeper into who we are, and that is exactly why I love doing this podcast. Enjoy!

Bex Mui || Healing, Reclaiming, & Reframing Your Spiritual Practice
Tuesday Aug 15, 2023
Tuesday Aug 15, 2023
For today’s episode, I had the honor of talking with Bex Mui, a queer witch, energy worker, and spiritual organizer. Bex is the founder of House of Our Queer, a Spiritual place base, and the author of the book House of Our Queer, Healing, Reframing, and Reclaiming Your Spiritual Practice. In our interview, Bex talked about what it looked like being raised Catholic in regard to her sexuality and her relationship with her body, what it looked like to take the space that she needed to heal, and then being able to freely reclaim what felt true and enjoy the spirituality that has always been rightfully hers.
One of the things that Bex said in the interview that stood out the most to me was:
“As a young witch and a young healer, I did have this sense that all of this noise, everything that I was hearing from the church and the community had to do with the fact that there was some type of power in my body. There was a lot of noise and a lot of control, and that wouldn’t be something that was happening if there wasn’t something that they wanted”
Hearing those words gave me goosebumps. Enjoy the episode, and don''t forget to check out Bex's book. House of Our Queer will forever have a place on my shelf.

James Barnes || Trans Empowerment, Coping Skills
Thursday Jun 08, 2023
Thursday Jun 08, 2023
Today I got to interview James Barnes, also known as The Trans Coach. James is a Corporate Motivational Speaker and Stress + Mindset Coach whose mission in life is to empower people through life transitions in and out of work. He wants to help people create more empathy and understanding for not only others, but also themselves. He is a father, and husband, and also happens to be a Trans man.
It was such an honor to have James on the podcast today to share his story about his own transition, and how his experience was healing the man that he’s always been. My favorite part of our conversation was when James talked about what it looks like to define yourself both in and out of your transition, versus just jumping from one checked box to the next. He talked about how important it is to just be a friend to yourself and learn who you’ve always been. Enjoy!

Hello friends. This week's episode is going to be very different from the others given the fact that I'm not interviewing anyone! As some of you know, one of my passions outside of podcasting is public speaking. Every year I get the opportunity to speak and share my story at a camp called RYLA, and this year I thought it would be fun to post it here on the podcast for anyone who wants to listen to check it out. Enjoy!
TW: Sexual assault, addiction, eating disorders, trauma, depression, suicidal ideation

Tuesday Jan 24, 2023
Tuesday Jan 24, 2023
Hello people of the world, and welcome back. Oh, I have missed you. Season 4 of The Unity Project is kicking off with an incredible interview with the author of My Government Means to Kill Me, Rasheed Newson.
"My Government Means to Kill Me is an exhilarating, fast-paced, coming-of-age story that lends itself to a larger discussion about what it means for a young, gay, Black man in the mid-1980s to come to terms with his role in the midst of a political and social reckoning."
I learned so much reading his book and talking with him on the podcast about the AIDS crisis, and practical ways we can do so much better. Enjoy!
